Our group theme this week was color, so instead of individual days, I thought I would just do a gallery of the images I submitted for "color". Then, rebel that I am, one day was actually no color! Hope you enjoy them. Click to see them larger at at full crop. In honor of the last two pic above, I have to post this link.... if you need a laugh, or just a song to stick
in your head I present to you: "the fish head song" And here is my non-color.

Our next leg was in Boulder Colorado visiting my sister and her family. Good times had by all... Joan even tried out the corn cob pipe we brought her from the Corn Palace! But here she is picking out the music for our morning coffee!
Some of you might remember the rocking horse from day 50... She has now found a new home and an able rider! The next part of our drive was through the east wide of Wyoming on our way to Colorado. I love this landscape - desolate and verdant at the same time. Rugged scrub and velvet smooth at the same time. History seeps from the abandoned buildings, and warnings from the snow fences. Click on any of the below pictures to see them larger.
I convinced Jon to do some sightseeing in on our way to Colorado. We stopped at the SPAM Museum (who knew!!) the Mitchell, SD Corn Palace and Wall Drug to experience road trip kitsch at its best. Then a few days in National Grasslands and Badlands National Park. Both just beautiful; But before we could leave, we took a quick stop in Deadwood SD to pay our respects to the Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane grave sites. Click on any image to see larger. Spam, Corn, Wall and Deadwood: Grasslands and BadlandsMuch of September was spent on a 3500+ mile road trip, so instead of day to day photos, I will post as they happened on the legs of our journey - part by part.
The beginning of our trip went from VA through Gary Indiana and Chicago (with a sobering reminder of the dangers of the road!) to Milwaukee for some Scrabble and garden admiration with our friend Tony and Maggie (Happy Anniversary too!!). Then a return to Madison, WI to reunite Jon with one of our comfy chairs and get a free meal or two from Landon! While there we also picked up items I had stored to bring out to my sister's family in Colorado... so we then headed West! click on any of these to see a bigger image: |
