After a couple years of exclusively doing hand building of my ceramics, I decided to overcome my fear of the wheel. I have embraced it and lover it! It is the most magical and frustration thing I have ever done.

This piece is a combination of a thrown bottom and a built  top. This is wher I think I am going; combining the two processes.

There is a meditative quality to throwing,. There is a joy of perfection. There is a respect for the materials and the physics involved.  This is so different from the spontinaity and versitility of the hand build process. One of the things I like the most is using many different clays in one piece, and this is easier and more well defined in the hand build process than it is  when using the wheel.

but my faThe other benefit I have found with the wheel, is the ability to make functional pieces. So now we have so many  bowls! My favorite is my "dog bowl" with my buddy Kettu on it!

    Ceramics

A couple years ago I stuck my artistic toes into the waters of Ceramics. I hadn't touched clay since high school, and had forgotten how wonderful it is. So here I am; at a new medium!
