May 29 - September 5, 2021 2021Quilt National, Athens Ohio
Founded in 1979, Quilt National was intended to demonstrate the transformations taking place in the world of quilting. Its purpose was then, and still is, to carry the definition of quilting far beyond its traditional parameters and to promote quiltmaking as what it always has been — an art form.
This exhibit of about 80 artists, chosen from hundrds of entries from all over the world, is recognized as a major exhibit of what is happening in the art quilt world. It is held every two years in the The Dairy Barn Art Center in Athens Ohio. A selection of the art travels the world for additional exhibits. I am so pleased that my quilt "6' of Chaos" will be included in this year's exhibit.
April 17 – July 3, 2021 Visions Art Museum, San Diego, CA
Visions Art Museum began as Quilt San Diego, a non-profit arts organization founded in 1985 to promote contemporary quilt making as fine art. The mission of Visions Art Museum (VAM) is to create an international community of quilt and textile artists, collectors and the public through exhibitions, education, and engaging programs that increase the appreciation of quilts, textiles and fiber as fine art. I am thrilled that they invited me to have a solo exhibit in their gallery. To see more about my solo exhibit go here to the VAM website.
Here is a virtual tour of the present exhibits on display at Visions Art Museum. This includes my solos show and another show, "Deeds not Words" that includes my quilt of Belva Lockwood, an early women politician and judge.
December 31 – January 29, 2021 McGuffey Art Center, Charlottesville, VA
Over the past few years, I have taken hundreds of photos of downtown Charlottesville, Virginia. Many of these go on to be layered and stitched into fiber art. I recently had a show in Charlottesville at the McGuffey Art Center in Charlotteville VA. The show is down, but you can view both it and my artist's talk here. Here is a slide show of the fiber work, and below is a slide show of the framed sketch prints also in the show.
